Host Everest Cricket Club defeated Enterprise Busta SC by eight wickets to take the Trophy Stall T20 title yesterday. Batting first, the visitors managed 93-4 after the game was reduced to 15 overs due to rain.
Enterprise lost the early wicket of Khalid Mohamed (05) in the third over with score on 11, but Vishwanauth Gobin and Mankad Balkissoon (16) steadied the innings somewhat a second wicket stand of 37 before Gobin was bowled by Rohan Sarjoo for 25 (2×4).
Balkissoon then added a further 39 for the third wicket with Latchman Yadram (20) to beef up their total, but steady bowling by the home team bowlers led by Sarjoo (2-19) ensured their batsmen chased a gettable total on a heavy outfield.
Everest lost opener Sheik Mohamed (00) LBW to Seemangal Yadram in the first over before Sahadeo Hardeo and Hemraj Garbarran stabilized the chase with the second wicket partnership of 68 with level headed batting.
Garbarran was eventually dismissed for 25 (1×4 1×6), but Hardeo who top scored with 57 not out (2×4 4×6) and Basil Persaud (07*) saw their team home in 10 overs as they ended on 95-2. Yadram (1-6) and Mohamed (1-7) were the wicket takers for Enterprise.
Hardeo was given the man of the match award while Everest collected a trophy. The game was organised as part of Everest CC 100th anniversary celebrations.
