Plans for the staging of the inaugural Independence 10\10 Day\Night Softball Cricket Festival is moving apace as organizers are putting things in place for the May 25th, 2014 Festival at the No. 5 Sports Ground, West Coast Berbice.
According to Star Sports Entertainment, several top softball teams in Guyana have already indicated their participation in the festival. Teams will be coming from as far as Parika on the East Bank Essequibo and Crabwood Creek on the Corentyne. Several top teams in Georgetown have already given their commitment of taking part.
The Festival will be played on a knock out basis with round arm bowling being the format of the day. There will be over $200,000 in cash and trophies up for grabs and the competition starts at 9:00am. According to the coordinators, spectators will be treated to lots of side attractions which are being put in place presently so as to make it a grand family entertainment.
A few local businesses have already thrown their support behind the festival such as CellPhonix, Blair Computer Solutions, S. Deonarine Real Estate and Valuation Services and Bhagwan’s Optical Services.
