The Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) has named its Men’s squad which began training from yesterday afternoon at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court for their clash with arch rivals Georgetown in the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation’s Inter Association Basketball championship which bounces off this Saturday in Linden.
A squad of twenty five players including former national captain Steve Neils (Jr.), Neil Marks and Dwayne Roberts, all who played for Guyana at the last Caribbean Basketball championships, were among those named on Saturday night to train.
The coach is Kevin Joseph with Kerwin Abrams as his assistant, while Abdulla Hamid is the Technical Director.
The players called are: Chris Williams, Harold Adams, Orlando Glasgow, Alwyn Wilson and Dwight Cooper (Victory Valley Royals), Allister Webster, Shane Webster, Emmanuel Archibald and Robert Parrish (Amelia’s Ward Jets), Steve Neils, (Jr.) Trevor Profitt, Omally Sampson, Orin Rose and Marvin Hartman Kings), Neil Marks, Dwayne Roberts, Keiron Cameron, Stephon Tappin, Lawrence DaCosta (Retrieve Raiders), Mark Louis, Quincy Jones, Nevin Grenville (Wismar Pistons), Nevin Glen (Block 22 Flames), Michael Turner and Travis Dryden (Half Mile Bulls).
The ultimate aim for the GABF’s Inter Association championship is to come up with a shortlist of players to train for the Caribbean Basketball Championships in the British Virgin Islands later this year.
