Even the Sunday morning showers on April 27th couldn’t stop what is turning out to be one of the biggest local Judo rivalries from continuing as Raul Lall and Randy Phillips once again
made it to the finals of the second Rising Sun Judo Club/Alpha MMA in-club Judo tourney. Unfazed as the tourney organisers announced that all matches would be contested open-weight and with the Corwin D’Anjou led Black Hawks contingent eyeing some medals, they both used their vast contest experience to great effect.
The stylish Corwin D’Anjou and Q. Thompson of Black Hawks both turned in excellent performances to ensure that their contingent went home with a medal, while 2013 national women’s champ Yara Silva returned from a four month hiatus to claim the women’s open from a determined Norissa Yong.
The official results are as follows: Men’s Open- first place- Randy Phillips, second place- Raul
Lall, and third – Corwin D’Anjou.
Women’s Open – first – Yara Silva, second – Norissa Yong and third – Celena Yong.
The organisers expressed thanks to sponsor, International Technical Supplies Inc. for helping to make the tournament a reality.
