An ongoing feud between two teenagers has left one nursing a gunshot wound to the buttocks. Injured is 19-year-old Rawle Braithwaite of South Ruimveldt. Kaieteur News was told that, the incident happened shortly after 17:00hrs yesterday.
Kaieteur News was told that Braithwaite, a taxi driver, and the suspect had an ongoing feud. Tuesday evening the teen had a physical and verbal altercation with the suspect on Tuesday night.
Kaieteur News was told that Braithwaite was sitting with friends on Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, when his attacker approached. According to friends, the suspect told Braithwaite “You want problems with me eh?” Kaieteur News was further told that Braithwaite cautioned the suspect, but he persisted with his aggression.
According to one of his friends, Braithwaite then picked up a piece of wood to defend himself. Seconds later the suspect was seen pulling out a gun and he fired two shots at Braithwaite, one of which hit him in the buttocks.
The assailant jumped on his bicycle and rode away while the injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was hurried into surgery to have the bullet removed.
“I see this man riding up and down and I know he up to something. But is only when I hear bow! Then I realize that is shoot he shoot Rawle,” an eyewitness said.
Up to press time the suspect was not arrested. Braithwaite’s condition was listed as stable.
