The publication of an article and a letter in S.N (03.04.14 & 04.04.14) captioned “No provisions within FIFA statutes for no confidence motion against sitting President-Says Wayne Forde, Some are working to ensure the present GFF administration fails “ by Eton Moses respectively. Editor, from a layman’s standpoint however, I beg to differ from almost all of the views expressed by both individuals. But nevertheless would remain within the confines of my caption, which by extension I would add “dumb insolence on behalf of the toothless poodles, that masquerade as General Council members”!
Needless to say when it matters most no support by the majority is usually forthcoming to pronounce on critical mal-administrative issues that had affected the sport in the past, and presently.
Time and space would definitely not enable me to deal with all of the issues presented. With “examples always being better than precepts”, incidentally or co-incidentally both individuals, by way of their respective silence, in a tangible way have also contributed to the further demise of the sport, from an administrative perspective!
Two typical examples are as follow:
1) In accordance to Wayne Forde. “Right now the GFA is in excess of 20 million dollars in debt following the conclusion of the Banks tournament and in my humble opinion; I believe no one who was part of the GFA Executive during that period should be eligible to run any football office.
This is because for the simple reason that they have failed to explain to the General Council of the GFA how they chalked up so much debt and what are their plans to service the debt of which my club is one of the creditors that they owe huge sums for use of the facility for two consecutive tournaments.”
Editor, may, I enquire of Mr. Wayne Forde how the same mistake was made twice of huge sums of money being owed for two consecutive tournaments? Further with the first tournament, “wasn’t the current GFF President, Mr. Christopher Matthias a part of the GFA executive? So, with the application of Forde’s methodology, then Matthias also should not be eligible to hold office at the GFF level!
Moreover, initially he was a part of the problem, and failed to be a part of the solution! So, in actuality Mr. Forde there is no need to peruse the FIFA statues to ascertain if a “vote of no confidence” against the GFF President, can be entertained!
Rather “dereliction of duty”, half-truths, incompetence, squander mania of scarce finances, distortions and dictatorial unconstitutional policies would all give credence.
But wait a minute; I smell a rat or two! Is it because an executive of Fruta Conquerors is touted to become a Vice-President, of the GFF, that Mr. Forde wouldn’t support the vote of no confidence?
And why is it as a member of the GFA’s General Council, wasn’t Mr. Forde in the forefront of advocating to clubs “we wouldn’t participate in any GFA coordinated competition, until such time the financial affairs are fully ventilated,” failing which a vote of no confidence would be tabled against the entire executive?
Finally, as it relates to Eton Moses’ letter! In erstwhile I must laud his figurative expressions of convenient interest, despite the fact that he fails to include the USD$22,000 fine imposed by FIFA, due to Guyana’s failure to participate in the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Tournament last year, under Matthias’ stewardship!
Exactly, what role Moses played as a former GFF General Council member, when upon reviewing the inherent $30,000,000 debt cost, cutting measures should have been a “front burner issue”.
Rather. Executive members are being blamed for demanding substantial increases in monthly stipends! Does this include the President also, who had expended in excess of $1,000,000 to refurbish his office?
Why it is that a personal assistant to the President was hired? Why is it a non-productive office i.e. Bartica, wasn’t closed? Editor, at this juncture I wouldn’t say any further, but a timely reminder to Mr. Moses.
Now that you are outside looking in, many pertinent issues would unravel.” However, constitutional articulation that you failed to pursue in the past could have been concise for associations and affiliates. A typical example is “Loss of Membership”.
Was this factor being taken into serious consideration there would have never been, an expanded GFA/Beer K.O tournament, which to date has failed to honour its financial obligations! Is this what you campaigned and endorsed Matthias’ presidency for?
So exposing shortcomings within Upper Demerara, whose executive you were once friendly with, in the bigger picture, the GFA, West Demerara and wherever else Matthias is guaranteed votes, an obscured vision is obtained!
Definitely with this level of duplicity existing, the administration of football is sinking further, to an all time low! Can this be disputed?
Respectfully yours
