The struggling Guyana team which remains winless in this year’s Regional four-day cricket tournament and at the bottom of the points table going into Friday’s final round game against Trinidad & Tobago at Providence, have been hit by more injury problems.
Left-arm spinners Veerasammy Permaul and batsman Chanderpaul Hemraj are both injured and will be replaced by dropped leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo and batsman Vishal Singh. Permaul and Hemraj have contracted chicken pox and are not expected to get better by the start of the match on Friday.
Guyana have lost four of their five matches so far while holding on for a draw against the Winwards and the selection of Bishoo ahead of West Indies Under-19 left-arm spinner Godakesh Mottie-Khanai is a strange one while Singh who was unlucky to be dropped in the first place, returns to the side.
The team reads: Leon Johnson (Captain), Assad Fudadin, Amir Khan, Trevon Griffith, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Zaheer Mohamed, Ronsford Beaton, Anthony Bramble, Devendra Bishoo, Shimron Hetmyer, Raun Johnson, Keon Joseph, Vishaul Singh. The Coach is Esaun Crandon and Manager, Alvin Johnson.
