The West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Under-17 Competition is set to commence today with a double header planned for the Pouderoyen School ground.
According to Vice-President of competitions Christine Smith speaking with Kaieteur Sport via telephone yesterday, eight clubs will be participating in the tournament and they are Stewartville, Slingerz, Den Amstel, Young Achievers, Wales, Bagotville/Nismes, Uitvlugt and defending champions Eagles.
Smith disclosed that prior to the start of play there will be a March Past of the teams with President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Christopher Matthias, WDFA President Nigel Garraway and WDFA Vice-President Orin Ferrier among the officials who will be present.
The fixtures for today are as follows: Uitvlugt battle Bagotville/Nismes at 14:00 hrs and Eagles go up against Young Achievers.
Trophies and medals compliments of the GFF will be up for grabs.
