The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) has partnered with the Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) in the installation of lights at the Club as part of its ongoing development programme.
The lights have been partially commissioned with three (3) poles erected, and a similar number be installed shortly. The Club in collaboration with the GFSCA will be testing the lights with two cricket matches (hardball and softball) on Friday from 6:00pm. DCC A will take on DCC B in the first game, while Floodlights XI will play Parika Defenders in the second at 19:35 hrs.
Among the players expected to participate are Christopher Barnwell, Travis Dowlin, Paul Wintz Ricky Deonarine and Ramesh Sunich.
The President and Executive of the Demerara Cricket Club believe that this important project can only augurs well in the general development of the players.
“We see this as a shot in the arm for cricket in the city and we are grateful for the contributions made by the many business entities associated with the Floodlight’s group”, DCC president Alfred Mentore said.
“Additionally, we anticipate the positive spinoff of the youngsters both at DCC and in the city being exposed to playing under lights at a very early age”, he added.
The Demerara Cricket Club extends a cordial invitation to all cricket-loving persons to attend the games. Refreshment will also be on sale.
