Guyana’s athletes failed to get among the medals when competition continued Saturday at the South American Games at the National Stadium in Santiago, Chile.
In action on the night were Winston George and Alisha Fortune in the 200m and boxers Theresa London and Dennis Thomas. All three failed in their efforts. George made it to the final of the 200m after a second place finish in the semis, but ended out of the medal in fifth. The race was won by Junior Gomes DaSilva of Brazil (20.32). Fortune failed to finish in her semifinal race.
Meanwhile, Boxer Theresa London suffered a knockout defeat to Figueire Tereza of Brazil, while Thomas dropped a 3-0 decision to Palacios Vivas of Colombia.
