Eccles and Herstelling registered victories when play in the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA) / Neville Sarjoo Memorial T20 competition resumed yesterday at the Demerara Cricket Club ground.
Eccles overcame Providence by six wickets in the first game which commenced at 09:30hrs. Providence batted first and managed 104-9 after the game was reduced to 15 overs due to a late start.
Lennox Andrews slammed 32 and Shameer Alli 31. Deonarine Gobin, Daniel Barker, Joel Persaud and Ryan Shun picked up two wickets each. Eccles replied with 107-4 in 13 overs. Corwin Austin made 21 while Shun and Ramesh Ramroop contributed 19 and 17 respectivley; Jermaine Quacy took 2-20.
Herstelling defeated Ruimveldt by eight wickets in the second encounter. Ruimveldt were skittled for 83 in 13.4 taking first strike. Robin Persaud and Tony Motoo were the only batsmen that reached double figures with 16 and 14 respectively. Dwayne Yan captured 4-11, Michael Alexander grabbed 3-16 and Delroy Williams 2-10.
Herstelling responded with 86-2 in 15.2 overs. Daniel Downes stroked 26 not out; Kishan Persaud scored 23 and Ramon Daniels 21. Arshad Alli claimed 2-14. The competition continues today.
