…Unlicenced pistol found
Swift action by ranks of the Guyana Police Force apparently prevented a major robbery at the Rubis Gas Station in Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara (EBD) around 10:30 hrs yesterday.
Police in a release said that they were alerted concerning four men along with a parked motor car and motorcycle in the vicinity of the gas station. When ranks responded, the motor vehicles with the men sped away.
The release further added that the ranks gave chase and subsequently caught up with the vehicles. The men are now in police custody and an unlicenced 9mm. pistol along with six rounds was found in their possession.
However, when Kaieteur News spoke with workers at the gas station yesterday, none of them were too happy with the action of the lawmen.
“I was working right here and all I see is the police come and push down these two men and start kicking them up, that’s all. I don’t know about any planned robbery or so. Everything was just normal,” the worker who asked not to be named said.
The employee did mention seeing a parked car at the side of the gas station but said that they didn’t suspect anything until the police arrived.
There was no chase. The police come right here and meet the men dem.”
Investigations are ongoing.
