The Cumberland Play field in East Canje is expected to be a buzz when the Rotary Club of New Amsterdam is expected to stage their grand one day 20/20 cricket extravaganza and Car and Bike show beginning at 09:00 hrs. The cricket competition, which will feature four of the top cricket teams in Berbice, will be followed by the Car and Bike show in the evening.
Top teams Albion Cricket Club, Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets, Young Warriors Cricket Club and De Edward Cricket Club of West Berbice will be battling for the top prizes including cash incentives and trophies which are up for grabs.
The day’s events are expected to be fun filled and will see various added attractions featuring performers from the Children Mashramani competition among others.
The event is a fund raising charity activity to raise money for the club’s 2014 activities which includes a number of community related projects. Rotary has always been on the forefront of community activities and have done a number of projects over the years all in the interest of benefiting humanity.
The Tournament has so far attracted a number of sponsors including Ansa McAl, Trophy Stall, J’S Printery, Universal DVD, Ainlim, Nand Persaud and Company, A. Ally and Sons, Danzie’s Auto Sales, RHTYSC, St Francis Community Developers (SFCD) and Sukhpaul’s Business Enterprise amongst others.
