Ansa McAl Trading Limited stood firmly in the corner of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) yesterday
ahead of the three-day, four-nation International Goodwill tournament, which boxes off tomorrow at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The GBA tournament includes Guyana, Saint Lucia, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. During a simple presentation ceremony at the company’s Beterverwagting Headquarters, Marketing Director, Troy Cadogan said he is pleased to support the tournament.
“We know it’s an expensive venture and being the corporate citizens that we are, we are pleased to support this series. We hope that this small gesture will help to put them on the road to the 2016 Olympic Games,” Cadogan said.
Cadogan presented the sponsorship cheque to GBA President, Steve Ninvalle, who thanked Cadogan. According to Ninvalle, Ansa McAl has always been a supporter of amateur boxing and the sponsorship is a much-needed shot in the arm.
He said that some of the funds will go toward the local and visiting pugilists’ encampment. The GBA President called on the boxing fraternity to support products of Ansa McAl; the contingents from overseas are scheduled to begin arriving today.
