The rope of freedom finally ran out for a 32-year-old man who was captured by police over the weekend and made his first court appearance for the murder of one of his villagers, 10 years ago.
Radesh Guyadeen also known as ‘Bruks Man’ was remanded to prison by Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court, for the May 4, 2003 murder of 37-year-old farmer Nandram Manouar called ‘Nanu’ of Lancaster, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.
It is alleged that Guyadeen ,who was 22 years old at the time, stabbed Manouar in his chest shortly after he left a wedding house in the village.
On that fateful day, Manouar had accused someone of puncturing his bicycle. Minutes later he cried out to a friend that he had been stabbed. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation but died before receiving treatment.
Guyadeen, who was the prime suspect, subsequently fled the jurisdiction and was reportedly hiding out in Suriname for the past 10 years.
Despite his absence, Guyadeen was charged with murder.
After several call-ups, the Preliminary Inquiry was put down sine die (indefinitely) in 2007. It was then discharged in 2011.
According to a source, thinking that all was forgotten, coupled with the longing to see his relatives again, Guyadeen quietly slipped back into Guyana sometime in December.
His new looks kept him safe for awhile as he maintained a low profile.
On Saturday night he could no longer maintain that status and took the chance to go liming by a known drug block in the village.
He did not cater for the vigilant members of the village’s Community Policing Group, who along with Police Constable Elvis Jones, who resides in the area, were on patrol.
They raided several hotspots and spotted Guyadeen smoking a marijuana joint which he hurriedly threw away upon seeing the police.
He was arrested by the ranks, who were about to book him for loitering.
The murder accused was almost spared the murder charge since the police rank who arrested him did not recognize him.
However, one of the CPG members recognised him and informed the police at the Mahaica Station, where Guyadeen was taken.
The information was relayed to the Divisional Headquarters at Cove and John where the records were checked and it was confirmed that Guyadeen was wanted for the murder of Manouar.
The accused is to return to court on March 11.
LISTEN HOW JAGDEO WILL MAKE ALL GUYANESE RICH!!!
