With all the arrangements in place and sponsors on board the crowd is expected to journey to the Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) for its usual December 26 Boxing Day Horserace Meet at the Club’s entity Bush Lot Farm Corentyne, Berbice.
Eight races are slated for the day which will have a whopping $9M in trophies and cash incentives available.
The Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) undoubtedly has the best facilities among the horseracing tracks in Guyana and the organisers are putting everything in place to make sure it remains that way. However with the inclement weather the track is expected to be on the slow side, according to coordinator, Retired Chancellor Justice Cecil Kennard, the track is expected to be in top shape for this meet which promised to see a good day of racing.
Over 60 horses have entered for the event.
Over the past week a number of sponsors have been confirming their deal for the race meet from a long line which includes – Beverage giants Ansa McAl Guyana Limited and DDL, the Kharag Family of USA owners of Metro Computer and Office supplies in Guyana.
Among the others on board are Republic Bank, Neal & Massy (Guyana) Ltd, Mohamed’s Enterprise, Winston & George Baijnauth – Sawmillers, Digicel, Pomeroon Oil Mill, Nand Persaud & Co, Berbice Bridge Co. Inc, Gobin Agri Spares Center, Goodwood & Horse Shoe Racing Services, N. Mattai & Co, Ariel Enterprise, P & P Insurance Brokers, Kanhai Guyana Electrical Agency, Torginol Paints Inc, Gift Land Office Max Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall Bourda market and City Mall and Guyoil.
The feature A and lower event for the Deo Kharag Memorial stakes and trophy and is sponsored by the Kharag family of the USA, owners of Metro Guyana Limited, for the hefty pole position takings of S1.5M and trophy over one mile.
The co-feature event is for 3 years old West Indian maiden and Guyana bred horses also over one mile.
The other events are the race for E and lower horses, D3 maiden gallop which will also see the animals cover a distance of six furlongs, the race for two year old animals, G1 and Lower race. There is the race for animals classified I3 and lower, while there is also a race for horses classified J and lower.
The outstanding jockeys, trainer and stable will all received trophies and other accolades compliments of Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the organisers.
