The Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development has gotten onboard the enhancement drive in the administrative regions, and today it presented brush cutters to 27 hospitals and health centres.
Representatives from the various hospitals and the Regional Executive Officers (REO) of the 10 Administrative Regions, along with representatives of the Cornelia Ida (CI) and Ruimveldt youth groups received brush cutters at the Ministry’s Kingston Office.
Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Ganga Persaud acknowledged that it was another event in which the Ministry used the taxpayers’ money for the development of the people and enhancement of the environment.
Also at the ceremony the Ministry handed over some books that were written by former Guyanese Presidents Dr. Cheddi Jagan and Mrs. Janet Jagan, to the learning centers of Regions Eight and Nine.
This was part of a distribution exercise that commenced a few months ago that saw the donation of such books to the education departments of the Regions with the exception of Regions Eight and Nine.(GINA)
