Canadian footballer Dwayne De Rosario said he is pleased to visit the country of his roots, Guyana. He was speaking with Kaieteur Sport shortly after this arrival yesterday. Dwayne, who is here as an observer of the Chico Kashif and Shanghai schools tournament, said that the main purpose of his visit is to help develop the young footballers
and he will conduct a clinic in Linden today.
When quizzed about the schools tournament, De Rosario stated that Education and football go hand in hand. “Education is important for the youths, this will help build the national team and it also augurs well for the development of sports in Guyana,” he added.
De Rosario informed that one of the main reasons for his visit to give back to the sport. “I am here to help the youths; there is lots of talent, but the kids need more help in order to make a name at the international level,” he said.
“Facilities are important in term of their development, it makes players feel better and it enhances their talent. I am happy to help support their development,” said De Rosario who feels that hard work, Education and confidence are important.
