Residents of Camp and Princes Streets last night witnessed a multiple vehicle crash at the junction.
Last night around 08:00 hours the driver of a grey Honda CRV PRR 4791 was reportedly speeding east along Princes Street when he collided with a red Toyota car PKK 5138 that was driving south along
Camp Street and about to continue on to Russell Street.
No one was seriously injured. The driver of the red vehicle which had four persons inside said that when he realized what was happening he swerved to avoid a collision but was hit by the grey CRV and ended up slamming in the lamp post taking it down before coming to a halt. The CRV then crashed into a concrete bridge at the junction before stopping.
A team from the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) was on the scene defusing the severed electrical wires from the poles within the immediate vicinity.
Eyewitnesses who were on the scene said that the grey CRV was driving so fast that one person said “he wanted to take flight” with that amount of speed. After the accident occurred the residents reported that the driver of the grey CRV removed the license plates from the vehicle.
Police were summoned to the scene but took a while to come. During that time the persons on the scene were discussing amongst themselves the best option to
resolving the issue and to satisfy themselves.
