The husband of a City Magistrate is now a remanded prisoner after he was yesterday brought before the courts for allegedly assaulting the woman.
Behind tightly closed doors, Aboo McGusty, was indicted before the Chief Magistrate at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on an assault charge. The prosecution claimed that the man assaulted the Magistrate on December 9 at John Street, Werk-en-Rust.
When the case was called, the courtroom was cleared and many whispers of “very sensitive matter” were uttered by officials who, like the many baffled, were also forced out of the courtroom.
Though there are unconfirmed reports of what occurred between the two, the man was allegedly drunk when the incident occurred.
One of his sisters was yesterday spotted crying whilst communicating with him at the prisoner’s cell at the court where he was detained before the Magistrates’ ruling. ‘Petunia’ was heard asking the man “If you know you can’t drink, then don’t drink.”
The matter was first called in the morning but the Magistrate’s decision was handed down in the afternoon. The Chief Magistrate reportedly remanded the man to prison where he will await his next court appearance which is supposedly scheduled for Friday, December 13, 2014.
