A Trans Guyana aircraft returning from the interior location of the Cuyuni-Mazaruni Region yesterday veered off the Ogle Airport runway after experiencing a partial seizure in the brake apparatus, spokesperson for the local airline company, Kit Nascimento explained.
Some six passengers transported on the aircraft walked away unhurt. Nascimento told this publication that the event which he described as nothing more than an “incident” occurred around noon. He said after the pilot landed on the airstrip, it was recognized that the brake gave a slight problem which led to the aircraft “veering off” the airstrip.
According to Standard Operating Procedure, Nascimento said, the plane was immediately taken for maintenance checks. It was determined that the aircraft suffered no damage. Passengers were safely escorted to the airport terminal.
Nascimento explained further that the incident has already been reported to the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, also as matter of procedure.
