Several Chinese nationals were last evening tied up and robbed of in excess of GUY $9 Million dollars from their haberdashery store located in Barrack Retreat, Central Rupununi commercial zone.
The robbery reportedly occurred at approximately 20:00hrs.
The stolen cash is reportedly the day’s sales and is said to be a composition of American, Brazilian and Guyanese currencies.
Kaieteur News understands that the persons suspected of robbing the Chinese nationals were Guyanese and Brazilians. They reportedly escaped in a four-door vehicle.
This publication was told that the area where the robbery occurred is located close to the Brazilian border and it is believed that the bandits may be headed there.
In a fast vehicle it would take approximately six minutes to escape, one source told Kaieteur News.
