Last Sunday a total of nineteen athletes representing three clubs clashed when the Rising Sun/Alpha MMA hosted a Ne-waza/submission grappling tournament at the Marian Academy. The clubs that participated were Rising Sun Judo/Jiu-jitsu, Alpha MMA and Black Hawks

Martial Arts Academy. It was a day filled with surprises and displays of fantastic groundwork techniques, national Judo champions Randy Phillips and Yara Silva showed why they are the best by dominating their respective categories, while Mitch Satrohan and Corwin D‘Anjou
had a wonderful day taking the men’s heavy and men’s under 140lbs respectively.
Brandon Hutson was in a no nonsense mood and took no prisoners while securing the under-16 gold.
Kudos must go to the Black Hawks contingent for securing 1-gold medal, 2-silver medals and
1-bronze and to Andrew Hing and Alex Jarvis for putting up spirited and inspirational performances.

Under 16 – Brandon Hutson (gold), Shiloh Cameron (silver), Rene Hutson (bronze).
Under 140lbs Men- Corwin D‘Anjou (gold), Sam DaSilva (silver), King Cameron (Bronze)
Under 170lbs Men- Randy Phillips (gold), Raul Lall (silver), Alex Jarvis (Bronze)
Men’s Heavyweights- Mitch Satrohan (gold), Keifer Robin (silver), Colwyn Benn (bronze)
Ladies Open- Yara Silva (gold), Joanne Williams (silver), Norissa Yong (bronze).
