A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) Region Nine on Sunday last held a pre-holiday cycle race for youths in the area under the theme ‘First of a kind with youth in mind’ around the Lethem community.
The event saw some 30 youths in two category taking part. The categories 9 to 11 years and 12 to 15 years, saw the riders starting the 4km race in front of the Multipurpose Complex, taking in a course along the Road to the International crossing, Barrack Retreat, Takatu Drive, Park Avenue to end at the Tabatinga Sport Complex.
Prizes were awarded to the first to third place finishers in each category. The 9 to 11 years race resulted in a win form Christopher Andrews over Lenny Biretto and Trese Singh third, while in the 12 to 15 years Michael Farias was the winner, beating Lucas Rodrigues and Levi Andries respectively.
They were all presented with trophies and medals, while the lone female competitor, Ayana Wilson received a medal.
APNU plans to stage more of these events in the future and would like to thank all those who supported the event.
