Youth Warriors and Albion Community Centre are both through to the final of the Elizabeth Styles Under-19 cricket competition in Berbice after they both won their respective semi final matches in convincing fashion.
At Cumberland, Young Warriors hammered the highly favoured Rose Hall Town Pepsi (RHTP) by 8 wickets. RHTP decided to take first strike and immediately found themselves two wickets down for 4 runs.
Pacer, Suresh Dhanai, who had taken one of the two wickets to fall continued the demolition process by picking up four more consecutive wickets to reduce them further to 26 for 6. Keon Sinclair offered some resistance but Dhanai took two more as RHTP folded for 80 in 24.3 overs.
Sinclair top scored with 26. Bowling for Young Warriors, Dhanai ended with 7 for 20 from 7 overs and Ramdeen 2 for 11 from 5.3 overs.
When Young Warriors began their response, they found themselves in a spot of bother at 20 for 2 but West Indies Under-19 batsman, Shimron Hetmyer with 32 not out and Ramdeen with 30 not out guided them to an 8-wicket win.
Over at Albion, Albion Community Centre hammered Blairmont Community Centre by 9 wickets. Blairmont Community Centre won the toss and elected to bat first, they were confronted with an all-spin attack which choked their scoring and at the same time, caused wickets to tumble so much so that they were skittled out for just 39 in 20 overs.
Abdool Subhan was the only batsman to reach double figures with 10. Doing the damage for Albion were leg spinner Avinash Wajib with 4 for 6 from 4 overs, Under-17 player, Balcand Baldeo bowling off spin took 3 for 14 from 7 overs and left arm spinner Gudakesh Motie 2 for 3 from 3 overs.
Young Warriors and Albion will face off in the final tomorrow at Cumberland in Canje.
