The Georgetown Turf Club has reopened the door for competition and as such will be hosting a Gymkhana and Horse Race meet on Sunday, November 24 at Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara.
Forty horses from Georgetown, East Bank and East Coast Demerara are slated to take part in the meet. President of the club Michael Sims has recently returned from Canada and still has a great interest in promoting the sport and as such works to resuscitate the track has commenced as well as clearing of the access road.
Simms is hoping to make the venue compatible with those in Berbice and to have full-fledged horseracing in Demerara.
