Mohamed, Castello slam 100s, Ramdeen hits 50; Atwell, Lord bag 5

Everest Cricket Club, Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) registered victories, while Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) and Third Class played to a draw when the latest round of matches in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Sea Foods second division 2- day tournament concluded yesterday.
At GNIC, the host went down to Everest by 104 runs. Batting a second time Everest, after leading by 34, managed 173 before they were bowled out in 52 overs. Mohan Ramdeen led with 57 inclusive of nine fours, while Raphael Singh supported with 26 (4×4) and Steve Ramdass 21 (3×4). Dwight Dodson claimed 2-13 and Ryan Shun 2-18.
Set 208 to win, GNIC were skittled for 103 in 30.3 overs in the last hour of the match. Kester George scored 23 (3×4,1×6) and Shun 22 (5×4). Javed Rasheed snared 3-14 and Chris Surat 3-24.
Scores; Everest 139 and 173, GNIC 105 and 103.
At MYO, DCC humbled Sophia by an innings and 180 runs. Trailing by 212, Sophia resumed their second innings on 8-1 and were bowled out for 40. Leg spinner Antonell Atwell was the pick of the bowlers for DCC with 5-9 of 3.2 overs; Michael Shalim captured 3-5 and Dexter George 2-8.

At Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC), Georgetown Cricket Club defeated the host by an innings and 100 runs. After trailing by 207, Malteenoes resumed their second innings on 8-1 and succumbed for 113 in 40.2 overs. Keifer Norton top scored with 56 as Devon Lord grabbed 5-18 and Bernard Bailey 2-29.

At Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO), the home and Third Class played to a draw. Leading by 191, GYO resumed their first innings on 200-3 with Wazeer Mohamed on 52 and declared on 300-6. Mohamed who played some lovely shots on both side of the wicket stroked 100 not out. His century contained sixteen fours and one six; Alvin Castello took wickets for the visitors. Batting a second time, Third Class facing a deficit of 191, scored 274 all out. Castello slammed 101 and Govinda Muniram 55; Trevon France and Surendra Heeralall captured 2 wickets each. Set 84 to win, GYO were 57-4 at stumps on the second and final day.
