Abdur Kalib blasted an aggressive 93 as West Coast Demerara Seals defeated Lower East Coast Bulls by 9 wickets, at the Zeeburg Community Centre ground when the Raj Singh\ Demerara Cricket Board over-40 twenty overs competition continued on Thursday last. Batting first, the Bulls posted 189 for 3 with Latchman Yadram, Chitram Gangadin and Clifton Anderson leading the way with 54, 53 and 47 respectively.
The Seals replied with 190-1 in 19.3 overs. Man-of-the-match, Kalib hoisted eight sixes and slammed nine fours in his innings, while Basdeo Persaud contributed an unbeaten 62.
At the Enmore Community Centre ground, Upper East Coast Tigers overcame Upper East Bank Colts by 4 wickets. Colts took first crack only managing 118 for 7. Otis George top scored with 25 and Rohan Sarjoo chipped in with 20, as John Hardatt and Ramnarine Seebalak accounted for three wickets each.
Upper East Coast Tigers overhauled the target in 19.5 overs, losing six wickets in the process. Rama Malone led the way with 33 and got support from Man-of-the-match John Hardatt who made 29. S. Ramdeen took 2 for 11.
Over at the Everest Cricket Club ground, Lower East Bank Lions humbled Georgetown Buffaloes by 46 runs. Batting first, Lions scored 173 for 9. Nigel Bissu top scored with 39, while Deonarayan Debidial and Ronald Jaisingh scored 31 apiece.
Man of the Match, Fitzroy Colley stood out with the ball, snaring 5 for 9 off his two overs.
In their reply, Buffaloes crumbled to 127 all out in 19.3 overs. S. Bentick scored 30, while Jaisingh and Latchman Persaud finished with figures of 3 for 10 each.
