Trinidad -(Trinidad Express) – A Guyanese was killed in Trinidad over the weekend.
Dead is Looknauth Balkissoon, 31. He had been living in Trinidad for the last nine years.
Some of his relatives were at the Forensic Science Centre Monday said that around 10 p.m. on Friday, Balkissoon was standing at the side of the Las Lomas #1 Road when a three-tonne truck slammed into three cars that had been parked at the side of the road but as the out-of-control driver continued, there was little time for Balkissoon to escape.
As the truck ran into him he was thrown several feet into a drain. His relatives said that he suffered in agonising pain for five minutes following which he died. The truck driver in the meantime was described as being drunk.
He was dragged out of the vehicle by villagers who according to relatives, “gave him a sound licking”, following which he was handed over to Chaguanas Police.
