The Mayor Hamilton Green 79th Birthday 7-a-side Inter-Ward/Village Football tournament will be contested on November 10 at the Tucville Ground.
The one day football extravaganza will open at 3:00pm with the preliminary phase before the winners advance to the respective quarterfinals, then semifinals and final. This the 32nd year of the Mayor’s birthday football tourney, will see eight matches in the preliminary phase.
Bourda play North Sophia, Kuru Kururu tackle South Sophia, Leopold Street battle East Ruimveldt, Bagotville oppose Tiger Bay, Meadowbrook take on Berlin, Goed Fortuin come up against Alberttown, North East Lap Penitence clash with Charlotte Street and Kitty tangle with Newtown Kitty.
Several corporate entities and persons have lent their support to the event so far. Among them are GT&T, MACORP, Chris Fernandes, Ricks and Sari, who will give hampers of their products to the winners, Guyana Lottery Company, New Thriving Restaurant, Eddie Grant and Giftland Office Max.
Lennox Arthur, former national player and coach, is the coordinator of the event. Fans are encouraged to come out and enjoy an action packed evening of 7-a-side football.
