The body of 70-year-old Deryck John, called Bobby Whyte, of 47 Bel Air Gardens, Georgetown, was discovered on the Seawalls in the vicinity of Conversation Tree with a single gunshot wound to the head, early yesterday afternoon .
John was known as a businessman who owned properties cross the city. According to an eyewitness, around 2:00 pm yesterday, while working at a nearby store, he was startled by the sound of a loud explosion. “I hear the big boom so I tell me boss must be some truck tire explode cause them thing does usually happen out deh. But then a man walk pass and seh Bobby (John) just shoot he self out pon de seawalls,” the source said.
The man added that John’s family quickly rushed to the scene only to find the elderly man lying across the seawall. Relatives of the dead man begun to visit the scene and left as they each got a glimpse of the body. The family of John was however tight lipped about what might have prompted the suspected suicide.
Associates of the dead man said that John and his wife had a few marital issues and that he threatened to take his life.
“Up to last week he been with we and he said that he can’t take he wife no more and he want kill he self; but we take it as joke because the man got everything. So when we hear Bobby kill he self it wasn’t a shock to we,” one of his associates said.
People using the Rupert Craig Highway were surprised at the heavy police presence that caused traffic to back up. This continued until the body was removed to a city funeral home.

Demons of death is on the loose in guyana
Agreed!
People fail to realise that when they commit suicide they will slide right into hell!
Why do Guyanese people always try to kill themselves as soon as things get difficult???
Suicide is a permanent soultion to a temporary problem(s)….
Rev Dukhia the suicide problem is world wide not only Guyanese do it, I live in the US and it’s done every day in some one or more of these 50 states. I live in Florida and earlier this week or last week a 12 year old did it because of bullying by another girl who is now before the courts.
how u know
If you were in the person position only then you can say if it was temporary problems !! some people are not brave enough to walk away.
Remember the scripture clearly says:
“Thou shalt not kill.”Deuteronomy 5:17
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are”1Cornitians 3:16-17
We have NO right to kill another person or ourselves because we are defiling God’s temple and the punishment is everlasting damnation.
It’ sad this man with apparently everything allegedly took his life. It just proves the point “money cannot buy happiness”.
Condolences to the bereaved. May his soul R.I.P.
Sorry to say having every thing materialistic wealth and don’t have Jesus in your life we are nothing
If u realize that haloween is around the corner and people take it for a joke or fun time, failing to realize that they are playing with evil demonic forces. The devil find ways to get into people lives, even getting to the children through these events. The devil Come to steal kill and destroy you.U notice that this man had everything, riches, fame, etc but was still unhappy, depress and lonely,What Alife!Money can’t buy all these things, and many of us may want to be like them not knowing what these people r going tru or does to get these riches. But my fellow guyanese what shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and loose his soul?NOTHING!! But Jesus come that we may have life and have it more abundantly. In everything trust God and he will direct your path and lives.Living for God is as if u have everything, its more than riches or fame, its peace, tru love, happiness, words can’t explain this life, you’ll have to experience it for urself.Trust me you’ll never fine through love as this.
may the lord bless this man soul!
