The exponents of volleyball in the Ancient County of Berbice will be back in the competitive mode on Sunday when the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) brings off the third Annual Dilip Budhram Memorial competition at the Port Mourant Training Centre Courts, Corentyne, Berbice.
The one-day activity is open to all clubs and schools and among the top teams expected to participate are; Port Mourant Training Centre (PMTC) One and Two, Albion Sports Club, Port Mourant Jaguars, Falcons of Canje, # Doors Strikers of D’Edward, Vikings of Blairmont and Rollers of New Amsterdam.
The late Dilip Budhram was a sports enthusiast and was actively involved with the BVA during the period 1998-2003 and this competition is sponsored by Budhram’s family in his memory.
The first ball will be served at 09:30hrs and teams are urged to be punctual for the opening ceremony. Trophies and medals will be up for grabs for the first to third placed teams, MVP, Best Spiker, Best Setter, Best Server, Best Defence, Best Blocker and Best Libero.
Meanwhile, the BVA is anticipating a busy end to the season and will hold the following competitions – the Rollers Old Boys Champion of Champions Lien Trophy on Nov 9&10 at the Skeldon Back Centre; Chattergoon Memorial Trophy on Nov 17 at Albion; Balram Shane Memorial on Dec 1 at Albion and the Reggie Goberdhan Memorial Lien Trophy on Dec. 8 at the 3 Doors Strikers Court, D’Edward Village, West Coast Berbice.
