An excellent all-round performance from ex-national player Deon Ferrier propelled Duchfour to a comfortable six-wicket victory over Perseverance in the last quarter-final game of the inaugural Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club (ECCCC)/GT&T 35-over cricket competition last weekend.
Playing at the Enmore Community Centre ground, Duchfour romped to victory with nine overs to spare, in the process booking a semi-final fixture with hosts Enmore.
Batting first, Perseverance posted what seemed like a challenging 183-9 off their allotted overs with M. Nicholson top scoring with 54, while R. Persaud supported with 29 and D. Solomon 28.
Off-spinner Ferrier returned excellent figures of 4-24 from seven testing overs for Duchfour, who made light work of the target, racing to 187-4 from 26 overs.
The right-handed Ferrier crowned an amazing day by leading the run-chase with an convincing 76, with support coming from C. Pellew (39) and T. Gilbert (20). D. Butts (2-36) and O. Ross (1-14) were the wicket-takers for Perseverance.
The competition will continue on Sunday at the Enmore Community Centre ground with the first semi-final featuring Helena and Fairfield. Semi-final two between Enmore and Duchfour will take place on Monday, November 4 at the Enmore Community Centre ground.
The grand final is tentatively set for November 10 at the Enmore Community Centre ground. All matches will bowl off at 11:00 hours.
The competition, which has being organised by the ECCCC, is aimed at giving clubs from Enmore to Mahaica much needed competitive exposure.
The champion team will receive $30,000 and trophy and the runner up $20,000 and a trophy. Among the individual awards are trophies for the Man-of-the-Match in the final, most runs, most wickets and most catches.
