A mixed jury was empanelled yesterday as the retrial into the 2006 double murder of brothers Ray Walcott and Carl Andrews, commenced yesterday before Justice Navindra Singh. On trial for the murder is Cyon Collier called ‘Picture Boy’.
Collier allegedly killed the brothers on September 23, 2006, at the Victoria Four Corner, East Coast Demerara.
Senior State Prosecutor, Judith Gildharie-Mursalin is presenting the state’s case, while Attorney at Law Lyndon Amsterdam is representing Collier.
The prosecution called two witnesses as the trial commenced. The first witness Geoffrey Andrews, the father of the victims, was called to the witness box. According to the father, he received a telephone call on the day of the incident and went to the area where he saw his sons lying in a pool of blood.
He went on to state that on September 25, 2006 at the Georgetown Public Hospital, he identified the bodies. The next witness was Patrick Knights.
Last December, Collier was ordered to face a retrial after the 22-day murder trial concluded with a hung jury. The matter was previously brought before Justice Diana Insanally.
