Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) will take on Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) in the first semi final of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)\ New Building Society (NBS) second division 40 over tournament today, while Muslim Youth Organization will play Transport Sports Club in the second tomorrow ; both matches are set for the GCC ground Bourda.
GYO have played excellently to reach the semis and an exciting contest is anticipated when action gets under way from 10:30 hrs. The visitors will depend Wazeer Mohamed, Kamesh Yadram, Bhaskar Yadram to post a decent score while their bowling is expected to be spearheaded by Mohamed, Yadram and Ricky Hoyte. GCC have displayed some quality cricket under coach Monte Lynch. Their batting will be led by Martin Pestano- Belle, Geewan Singh and Elon Fernandes while their bowling seems good with pacer Bernard Bailey, left arm spinner Devon Lord and Kevin Plants included. Zaheer Mohamed and Ryan Banwarie will be the men in charge of the action while Javed Persaud is the stand by.
Muslim Youth Organization batting looks strong and will centered on Chien Gittens, Richard Latiff and Anthony Ifill. Zulfikar Ali and Parmanand Parsram will lead their bowling attack. TSC have proven that they can hold their own in any given situation and their captain Shaun Massiah has marshaled his troops well so far. Azeem Azeez, Oslyn Batson and Massiah will look to support from the other batsmen while Clyde Hoyte and Jonathan Alphonso spearhead their bowling. The Umpires for the fixture are Joseph Jeffery and Clyde Layne with Heuvel Cunha as standby.
Meanwhile the GCA\Hadi’s first division 2 day competition continues today with GCC playing GDF at Malteenoes with Matthew Kissoon and Anthony Ramsahai umpiring and DCC will host TSC with Eddie Nicholls and Cyril Garnath doing on field duties.
