The police are investigating the circumstances that lead to the death of former cyclist, Fazam Mohood, 29, of Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.
He reportedly died on Thursday morning after falling from a coconut tree while attempting to cut branches for a neighbour in the village.
Mohood appeared to have suffered a broken neck and other severe injuries to his forehead, ears and nose. He apparently landed on a fence when he fell from the tree.
Mohood was a former cyclist with the Flying Ace Cycle Club in Berbice. He would usually do odd jobs in the community.
His mother, Sanita Mohood, was distraught, describing her son as “very helpful” in the home.
Fazam’s Father, Fazal, is a food vendor at the Bush Lot Secondary School and the young man would assist him.
According to the Mohood family, the former cyclist would have celebrated his birthday later this month.
