Khadesh Daljit, 25, a farmer of Lot 8 Blairmont, No 4 Settlement, West Bank Berbice, was on Friday remanded to jail by Magistrate Rhondell Weaver after he appeared at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court on a murder charge.
Daljit is accused of the murder of Shelton ‘Buju’ Joseph, 19, of Ozamah Street, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice, who died on October 6th, 2013.

The accused allegedy struck Joseph on his head with a piece of wood on September 27th.
According to the Prosecutor, Corporal Orin Joseph, the victim was allegedly lashed by Daljit following a misunderstanding.
Reports are that on the day of the incident, Joseph had gone to the Rosignol Stelling with a friend to transact business.
While at the stelling, it was reported that Joseph’s friend got into a fight with two men on the Stelling Road. Joseph intervened and attempted to part the fight but was instead brutally attacked.
Joseph fell on the road and was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital, then to the New Amsterdam health institution before being transferred to the GPHC where he died on October 6th. The accused reportedly fled and was arrested by police on Wakenaam Island, Essequibo River.
The accused was unrepresented. The matter has been transferred to the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court.
