– Golden Grove/Diamond Committee
Building trust between neighbouring communities and the Golden Grove/ Diamond Police Station, East Bank Demerara is the primary task of the newly elected Executive Committee of the Station Management Committee.
This is according to Seewchan, the first Chairman of the body, who said this could only be achieved if loyalty, integrity and confidentiality are of high standard within the station.
He asserted that the body will be serving in the interests of the management of the station whilst taking new approaches in addressing the challenges faced by the community through criminal and other unwanted activities that can hinder development.
“We should not see ourselves as only a body, but an executive body that will be proactive in the daily monitoring of the operation of the station, act in an advisory capacity, and report the discrepancies within the station,” he added.
The members of the new Executive are Mark Agippa, Vice-Chairman; Beresford, Secretary; Fazal Ishak and Neetram Jadonandan, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer/ Secretary respectively; and Howard Samaroo, Public Relations Officer.
The Committee’s work plan for the period 2013 to 2014 includes interfacing with the community, fund raising, quarterly inspection of the station, and honouring the elderly, children and less fortunate.
Over the years the Committee has been able to achieve many developmental projects for the station such as building a shed in front of the structure, erecting an illuminated sign at the third bridge entrance to show directions to the station, as well as constructing a walkway around the building.
