A Grass Roots volleyball competition organised by the Regional Democratic Council and the Ministry of Sports will be staged today at the Port Mourant Community Centre Ground, Corentyne, serving off at 10:00hrs.
The one-day competition is open to all teams, clubs, villages and organisations (work) that are playing the game and wants to be a part of the action. Teams are asked to turn up with their uniforms and balls if possible.
Incentives are up for grabs and will be presented to the winning and runner-up teams as well as outstanding individual players including the best setter, best spiker, most discipline team and best uniformed team.
A number of top teams have so far registered for the competition including Port Mourant Training Centre (One and Two), Port Mourant Jaguars, Port Mourant Invaders, Rollers and Albion United. Other teams are expected from Canje and Upper Corentyne and some schools.
