Puerto Rican pugilist, Rafael ‘Dynamite’ Vazquez launched a two fisted assault on Leon ‘Hurry Up’ Moore in the 9th of their 12 round double title affair and forced referee Shada Murdaugh to institute an eight count and eventually waved the fight off when the two pugilists squared off at the Resorts World Casino, Queens, New York, for the USA New York State and the WBA Fedelatin super bantamweight titles, Saturday 21 last.
Moore entered the ring with an impressive 30-2 record with 24 wins coming by way of knockout. He was the former Guyanese Bantamweight champion, WBC Caribbean Bantamweight champion, NABA Bantamweight champion, WBC Caribbean Super Bantamweight champion and the PABA Super Bantamweight champion.
He became a professional fighter in 2001 and sports a win over former world champion Mauricio Pastrana. He has won 12 straight bouts with the latest being a 2nd round stoppage over Errol Trotman on July 5th in Georgetown, Guyana. His record has now dipped to 30 (24) -3-0.
Vazquez of Howard Beach, Queens, is a relatively young professional and has improved his record to 9-1 with 7 knockouts. He became a professional fighter in 2010 after an impressive amateur career and won his first eight fights before suffering his lone defeat, a split decision to Jhovanny Collado on September 22, 2012.
Kaieteur sport attempted to speak with Moore to ascertain his intentions after the loss but those efforts proved futile.
