Guyana’s Badminton players at the 1st South American Youth Games, Ambika Ramraj and Narayan Ramdhani will take to the courts for the first time today when they open their quest for glory at the Instalociones de Badminton del Club Regatas.
Both players have been drawn in Group B of the singles; Ramraj will come up against the number two seed – Daniela Macian of Peru and Santusha Ramzan of Suriname and only needs win to advance to
the quarterfinal round.
Ramdhani will come up against Soren Opti of Suriname and Lizana Bastian of Chile and like Ramraj, only needs a win to advance. However, both players will be seeking to take care of both opponents in their groups.
The duo has been hard at training under Coach Gokarn Ramdhani ever since arriving last Wednesday and would have played warm up matches against opponents from Columbia, Argentina, Venezuela and Ecuador.
On the cycling circuit, Crystal Lambert and Shaquel Agard will contest the Time Trials while swimmers, Omar Adams, Hannibal Gaskin and Onika George will also be in action.
Table Tennis will come into focus tomorrow, the Technical Meeting is set for today.
