The Team Event started yesterday at the Caribbean International Junior Badminton Championships (CAREBACO) which is being held in San Juan, Puerto Rico September 8-15, 2013.
Guyana is in Group B with Dominican Republic & Trinidad. Six Countries are taking part in this Team event. Group A consist of Suriname, Puerto Rico and Barbados.
Although the Team Events in the Juniors are in the Under-19 category, Guyana’s young players still performed their best and lost to Trinidad 4-1 with some close matches.
Winning their match was Narayan & Priyanna Ramdhani in the Mix Doubles Event.
Boys Singles: Narayan Ramdhani lost to Jason Ramjass (TRI): in a three setter with Narayan winning the first 21:13 and lost the remaining two: 22-24, 15-21
Girls Singles: 11 year old Priyanna Ramdhani lost to Jada Renales (TRI): in a three setter with Priyanna losing the first: 21-14, won the second: 21-17 and lost the third: 21-18
Boys Doubles: Jonathan Mangra & Noel Shewjattan lost to Naim Mohammed & Johan la Bastide (TRI): 21-8, 21-14
Girls Doubles: Nadine Jairam & Meshonn Persaud lost to Jada Renales & Brittney Mohammed (TRI): 21-13, 21-14
Mixed Doubles: Narayan & Priyanna Ramdhani defeated Jason Ramdjass & Tiffany Rampersaud (TRI): 21-19, 21-5
The Team tournament continues today with Guyana playing Dominican Republic.
