There is no doubt that the Group 4 category is the most talked about division in local motor racing, but word emanating from within the fraternity is that competitors in the other categories appear bent on producing performances that could capture the fans focus.
Superbikers, go-karters and cars in the lower categories have all vowed to make tomorrow’s event an exhilarating one for the fans and one that could change the perception that many hold about the other divisions not being as exciting and high profile as the Group 4 category.
The Group 2A that contains the Fullworks team, Chet Singh and Jad Rahaman is expected to be packed with excitement, while the Group 2B division with the likes of Shairaz Roshandin, John Joseph, Oliver Tjin Liep Shie of Suriname, Afraz Allie and Syed Hassan just to name a few is highly anticipated to produce some rivetting action.
Then there is the Group 3 where Ryan Rahaman will have to be at his level best to stave off the challenges of Ken Lall of the USA, Kamal Seebarran, Ravi Singh of Trinidad ansd Tobago, Raj Boodhoo and Gavin Gayadin, all very good drivers capable of takeing the chequered flag.
The Group 4 division which contains two segments within the one category has drivers like Vishok Persaud, who managed to capture a thrilling race at the previous Meet, while Ryan Rahaman, Keith Evelyn, Andrew Morgan, Irfaan Kalamadeen, Paul Vieira and Kemal Rahaman could all be in a dogfight for top honours.
But for now, it will take a great exhibition of skills to steal the thunder of the big guns like Kevin Jeffrey, Mark Vieira and Andrew King.
The Superbikers as usual brings a lot of thrill and tomorrow promises to be no different with Stephen Vieira expected to be challenged by Joel Neblett, Carey Griffith, Carlos Rodrigues and company, while the young brigade that includes Nikhil Seereeram and Matthew Vieira would be a joy to watch as they continue to harness their skills.
Twenty-two races are carded for the day and fans are being urged to get to the arena early to secure the best vantage point to witness the anticipated rivalries.
