Around 13:00 hrs on Monday high winds blew off some zinc sheets from the roof of the Town Hall sending patrons scurrying for cover as the sheets blew into the path of the passing traffic and pedestrians alike.
Some of the sheets landed on the electric wire and remained suspended, causing an instant power outage.
Units of the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) were summoned and arrived to remove the zinc sheet thus thwarting a dangerous situation.
