Dear Editor,
At a meeting on Wednesday, August 28, the members of ACDA decided that it was necessary to congratulate the students of President’s College, for their performance at this year’s Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE). Members felt that this performance of excellence is particularly noteworthy, especially in the light of what has transpired within that institution in recent times.
The school has suffered because of the intransience of this country’s administrators, which has led to:
• The absence of a School Board for over one year.
• The physical environment of the school going into disrepair, in addition to several other seemingly anti-education actions which saw these outstanding students being forced to study in a hostile environment. It was agreed that these outstanding students have demonstrated with pride, that even while being forced to live and study in sub-standard conditions their singular duty was to maintain the by-name of their institution, School of Excellence. We urge the wider Guyanese populace to join in the struggle to keep President’s College as a School of Excellence.
