– cops question, release boyfriend
Concern about the fate of Lance Corporal Patriena Nicholson has deepened, with police questioning the woman’s boyfriend, and relatives, searching hospitals and even mortuaries for her.
Kaieteur News understands that investigators detained the 38-year-old policewoman’s acquaintance for 72 hours but eventually released him.
This newspaper was told that the boyfriend was previously suspected to have links with a gang that had created havoc on the East Coast Demerara. Nicholson, who is seconded to the Police Mounted Branch, has been missing since August 9.
“I have been up and down (looking); we check the hospitals, we check at Lyken (funeral parlour…nothing,” a sister told Kaieteur News.
According to the sister, the missing woman spent most of her time at the Mounted Branch barrack-room. The sister said that she checked her sibling’s belongings, which she had kept in a cupboard, but was unable to say whether she might have taken anything with her.
Kaieteur News understands that Lance Corporal Nicholson left her location at around 14:00 hrs on August 9, after telling her colleagues that she was going “to wash.” Relatives also received reports that she was heading home to drop off a package when she vanished.
According to the woman’s sister, Shellon Nicholson, who lives at 44 Austin Street, Campbellville, it is unlike her sibling to disappear and not contact relatives. She said that around 13:30hrs on August 9, a call came to her from Patriena cell phone. Attempts to reach her about an hour later failed. Since then, all calls have been forwarding to voice mail.
Patriena Nicholson was last seen on Friday afternoon leaving police headquarters wearing a brown blouse, a pair of blue jeans and a pair of black sandals.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Patriena Nicholson is asked to call 692-5163; 621-2126; and 660-0500 or contact the nearest police station.
