Wartsila’s Guyana Operation continued its long-term relationship with the now Boyce & Jefford Track and Field Classic IV yesterday when the energy company empowered the meet that will be held at Eve Leary and MSC Ground, Linden next weekend.
Contracts Manager, Arron Fraser, who won the national 800m junior championship title in 1996 at the Enmore Ground, reiterated the company’s aid in the development of sports and athletes in Guyana
when he facilitated the contribution.
“This continues our many contributions to sports. We were with this project since its infancy and we are proud of what this (the meet) has become for track and field in Guyana. We will continue to support this great activity,” Fraser indicated.
As a former national athlete, Fraser reiterated his desire to see athletics return to its heyday, and that can only happen if both athletes and corporate community understand their respective roles, Fraser believes, adding that the meet can help athletes progress.
Competitions Secretary of the Boyce & Jefford Classic, Shanomae Blackmore, thanked Wartsila for their continued support before receiving the sponsorship cheque from Accounting Manager at Wartsila, Stanley Mootoo.
