Gomattie Harricharran copped the top prize of a 100cc motor-cycle when the Unity Lancaster Sports Club (ULSC) held the draw for its fund-raising raffle on Emancipation day.
Harricharran, with the lucky ticket number 2124, received the bike from officials of the club during a simple ceremony at the club’s Unity, East Coast of Demerara location.
William Wahid (ticket #3502) won the second prize of a trip for two to the majestic Kaieteur Falls, while Amanda Jaisingh (#0347) won a trip for two to Arrowpoint Nature Resort.
Other winners were Amar Nauth (#1656)- a ‘rocking chair’; P. Habbibullah (#2423)- a DVD player; N. Garbarran (#1947)- Nalini’s gift certificate; Balo (#1625)- Nalini’s gift certificate; Amanda Jaisingh (#0946)- a pot set; and Nasir Khan (#1885)- a blender.
According to a release from the club, “The ULSC will use the funds accrued to further enhance the pavilion in preparation for the introduction of karate classes set to commence early this month. There is already an existing boxing programme and the club is currently awaiting an improvement in the weather condition to resume it under-15 and under-19 cricket academies. The club also has functional senior and over-40 cricket teams.”
The ULSC is grateful for the support of all the individuals and companies who contributed to making the raffle a success.
Among them are Jailing, Buddy’s Pool Hall, Air Services Limited, Dipchand Trading, Roraima Airways, Regal Stationery, Quality Seafoods, IMK Auto Spares, Giftland OfficeMax, NDS Furniture Store, Nalini’s Hairdressing Salon, F&H Printing Establishment and Nauth Construction.
During the presentation ceremony on Thursday last, the ULSC also used the opportunity to hand out bursaries to the top two students of Gibson Primary School at the just concluded National Grade Six Assessment.
