New kinds on the cycling block, Trojan Cycle Club (TCC) based in Berbice, on Sunday last staged their first event which saw veteran rider, Godfrey Pollydore riding way with top honours.
The race which got underway at Main and New Streets, New Amsterdam, proceeded to No. 43 village and returned to its place of origin, covering a distance of 50 miles.
Pollydore won in Two Hours, 10 Minutes (2hrs 10minutes). He was followed to the line by Alanzo Greaves, Robin Persaud, Paul DeNobrega, Walter Grant-Stuart and Wazim Gafoor in that order, rounding out the top six.
Home town rider Juban Crawford was first among the juniors with Richard Alexander coming in second. Junior Niles was the first veteran winning from Raymond Newton and Everald Mundy.
The event was sponsored by Annirude Ramcharitar General Construction Company, Dwayne Ferdinand of Home Designs and Engineering and Auto Motive Spray Station and General Supplies among others.
