Dear Editor,
Once again the Sanasie-led illegal Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) is attempting to mislead the Guyanese public and to influence the work of the Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Cricket (PSSCC). Riding high on the heels of their embattled accomplice Raj Singh’s feeble and illegal efforts to fool all and sundry (including the PSSCC), they are now using Monty Lynch in their latest gimmick of attempting to establish an Association within an already existing Association -the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA).
The sole purpose of this outrageous act is to confuse, disrupt and divert the Parliamentary process which is near completion.
At a time when there is chaos in cricket in West Demerara where Monty lives, there exists a harmful division of cricket clubs to the extent that there is a break-away Sub-Association involving at least nine of the fourteen clubs on the West Demerara.
On the East Bank Demerara no cricket has been played for the past ten years. No cricket development programmes are in place but yet EBDCA is claiming responsibility for the Upper Demerara Cricket Association (UDCA) whilst relinquishing responsibility for the lower riverine areas which are members of the EBDCA.
This is an attempt to illegally divide the EBDCA into two cricketing bodies for the sole purpose of increasing voter allocation for the Demerara Cricket Board elections.
In an article published in the Guyana Chronicle dated July 3, 2013, it was reported that Mr. Lynch was looking for new talent and so he journeyed to an area that plays only soft ball cricket to identify talent. It is passing strange that Mr. Lynch has ignored the entire East Bank in his coaching programme especially as the EBDCA which was established many, many years ago and is now in a derelict state.
Instead, Mr. Lynch is concentrating his attention in illegally establishing an Association within an Association.
Mr. Lynch is a qualified cricket coach and Guyana certainly needs his contribution, in the field of cricket development where a practicable cricket development plan must be drafted and effectively implemented especially at the school level.
Mr. Lynch must be careful and wary of blindly following instructions from his inferiors who apparently are using his good name for this most recent nefarious scheme.
For our cricket to prosper we need honest, hardworking and reliable officials to carry out their duties with efficiency and integrity
